December Patient of the Month

Congratulations to our December Patient of the Month & Patient of 2022, Alana Collins!!

Alana had one main goal of 2022: Do not have any orthopedic surgeries. As this may seem like a silly goal for most, Alana has had a surgery every year since 2017, and was unfortuantely still experiencing pain in the knees she had operated on. She would come to find OTB after we moved into the same building she works in, and we are so lucky to have such great work neighbors!! From getting back into the gym, to shuffling at her latest show, Alana's knees have yet to let her down and she is only improving form here!

Read below to hear her story!

"As a 24 year old ex-cheerleader, I have been dealt a bad hand when it comes to injuries. At the age of 17, I had my first knee surgery as I tore my ACL. As the years went on, I have continued to have extreme knee pain in both of my knees and have had to go through 3 more surgeries since my first one. It is always a very mentally and physically challenging experience.

"In 2021, I had my most recent surgery and I had found Out of the Box as I work in the same building. I decided to give them a go as I have had interesting experiences in other physical therapy locations. I was determined to stop my bad luck of being back on the operating table. When I first began, I was terrified, but Dr. Hanna provided tons of insight as to why these injuries kept persisting. She helped me rehabilitate my knee and even get both of my knees much stronger than ever. She is without a doubt one of the most caring people I have ever had the pleasure of working with through a recovery process.

"After I had concluded my post-surgery, I decided to keep making appointments as for the first time in a very long time, I had confidence in my knees and in my physical therapists. When 2022 started, my New Years resolution was to not have to go through any surgeries. I worked extremely hard with Dr. Hanna and Dr. Jesse to build the muscles that were directly impacting my knees. As this year comes to a close, I am extremely excited to say I have fulfilled that resolution and have not needed surgery for the first time in 3 years. Out of the Box has truly changed my life and my outlook on working out, rehabilitation, and recovery. I cannot thank Dr. Hanna and Dr. Jesse enough for dealing with my blood, sweat, and tears throughout the year. Without them, I would not feel as strong as I do today. The workouts may have been extremely difficult, but they have helped me accomplish exactly what I need. I look forward to my physical therapy appointments because Out of the Box has become family.

"Thank you Dr. Hanna and Dr. Jesse! I can never put into words how much I appreciate you both and the practice. I will always recommend OTB as recovery has become exciting rather than scary."

Congratulations again, Alana! We're so proud of how far you've come and can't wait to see what 2023 has in store for you!
